THE dramatic appearance of the tree, which is traditionally styled to mimic nature’s beauty, makes a bonsai a fascinating piece of art.

Bonsai is a Japanese art form where plants are grown in containers to create miniature trees. The art form began centuries ago and has since gained the interest of enthusiasts as a means of self-expression.

On April 29 to May 1, Ayala Center Cebu, in partnership with the Cebu Bonsai Society, brings a bonsai exhibit and workshop at the Activity Center.

Property developer Cebu Holdings, Inc. and its parent company Ayala Land Inc. is bullish on the country's economy "regardless of who wins the presidency."

CHI president Aniceto V. Bisnar said the property conglomerate "will continue with its investments regardless of who wins the presidency."

"We're confident our economy will grow on a higher track and can be insulated from politics," Bisnar told reporters at the end of the stockholders' meeting Monday at the City Sports Club-Cebu.

CEBU, Philippines - Ayala-affiliate Cebu Property Ventures Development Corporation (CPVDC) doubled its revenue performance in 2015 to P1.3 billion.

CPVDC, the developer of the 25-hectare Cebu IT Park, attributed the striking financial performance due to a one-time sale of a commercial lot. Thirty-four percent was from its retail and office leasing, and remaining 16 percent from interest and other income.

CEBU, Philippines - Over 11,000 voters in Cebu will cast their votes in malls on May 9 instead of the regular voting centers in their respective barangays.

The Commission on Elections has transferred 16 clustered precincts to various malls in Cebu where there are 11,740 registered voters. Two clustered precincts in Mabolo, Cebu City with 1,582 voters were transferred to SM City from Mabolo Elementary School.

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday announced that there are about 13,215 voters who will benefit from the special polling precincts that they will set up in malls during the May 9 elections.

Comelec 7 Director Jose Nick Mendros said that the polling places will be at the malls of Ayala Business Park, Robinson’s Galeria, Gaisano in Talisay City, Gaisano in Mandaue City and City Mall in Consolacion.

Apart from the P13 billion capital expenditure allocated for projects already mapped out for the next five years, Ayala-led Cebu Holdings Inc., is also actively looking for possible partnerships to boost its project inventories in Cebu.

CHI president Aniceto V. Bisnar, Jr., reported during the Annual Stockholders Meeting yesterday, that the company’s revenue grew by 63 percent in 2015.

Ayala-led Cebu Holdings, Inc. (CHI) has earmarked more than P13 billion for its identified projects in Metro Cebu in the next five years.

This includes the P5.8 billion that has been set aside for capital expenditures this year, more than double the P2.7 billion spent last year, as well as the P500 million for the development of a portion of the 26-hectare lot acquired jointly by the Ayala Group and SM at the South Road Properties (SRP) in southern Cebu City, said CHI president Aniceto V. Bisnar, Jr.

THE 2ND RC Goldline Half-Marathon will be held on April 24 starting at the Sumilon Road of the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.

Around 2,500 runners are expected to answer the starting gun of the race which will also have 3-kilometer, 6k and 12k distances.

Organizer and RC Goldline president Christian Paro-an, also the overall chairman of the upcoming Cebu Business Month, said proceeds of the running event will be used to help in the clean-up campaign of Cebu City’s waterways.
